  Organizers are in the final stages of planning, and the most important needs at this point are filled backpacks and hairstylists who can spend some part of July 20 helping with the free haircuts for the students. • First golf fundraiser a success!

  The Oct. 11 golf tournament at BridgeMill Athletic Club earned $3,500 to help at-risk kids in Cherokee County! Thanks for everyone who showed up to play, volunteer or contribute otherwise! We are already looking forward to our second anual event – stay tuned to find out the date.

• A record number of backpacks given away at 2012 back-to-school bash

  The organizers and volunteers involved in this year’s Give a Kid a Chance back-to-school bash had no doubt it was the biggest since it began in 2007. Now we have the numbers to prove it. First Baptist Canton gave out 1,608 backpacks, with Hillside United Methodist distributing 1,116. MUST gave away the remaining 272 to [...]

  The doors are closed on this year’s back-to-school bash, but there’s no doubt that the memories made while serving will last a lifetime! Volunteers have gone home, and the children – loaded down with backpacks, new clothes, books and stuffed animals – are home surveying their new possessions. • First Baptist Canton is ready for Saturday’s back-to-school bash!

  On Thursday evening, volunteers loaded and unloaded, set up tables, arranged backpacks, and organized tables filled with clothing and socks and underwear, books and stuffed animals. Set up is complete at First Baptist Canton and ready for more than 1,600 Cherokee County school children and their families!
