Give A Kid A Chance is a program designed to start the school year
out on the right foot for children in need in Cherokee County.
Organizations (churches, businesses, ministries and
individuals) work together to provide backpacks and school supplies
for each elementary, middle and high school student who has been
registered through MUST Ministries in Canton. Organizers have
decided to expand the event to two locations this year: 9 a.m.-3
p.m. July 19, 2008, at the
Boys & Girls Club in Canton and
His Hands Church in
Woodstock.
Services offered our guests on this day include vision, hearing,
dental and chiropractic screenings, haircuts and blood pressure
checks. Each family can shop from a collection of like-new
clothing, and enjoy lunch while listening to live music. All events
and supplies
are provided at no charge for the registered
students
and immediate family. A voucher must be presented to receive a
backpack and school supplies.
The
outreach has grown so much for this year - we've come serving 100
children 3 years ago to the potential of serving thousands this
year! We need volunteers, supplies, and organizers. See how you can
be involved by emailing Candi Hannigan at
