| Several members of Liberty Hill United Methodist
Church were inspired to begin the project in 2006 after learning about a
back-to-school bash at an Austell church. They wanted to start a similar
ministry in Cherokee, offering local students every possible advantage
as they began the new school year. What started as an outreach to a
little more than 100 young residents of two apartment communities in
Canton has turned into a county-wide effort to reach more than 1,000
children when leaders at MUST Ministries heard about the event. MUST is
a faith-based, nonprofit organization that helps families in need by
providing food, clothing, financial
assistance, housing, and seasonal programs.
Jesus said, "Let the little
children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of
heaven belongs to such as these."
